Alright, I think I might have a few minutes to finally share some of my favorite parts of our wedding weekend!
Jason and I packed up the Tuesday prior with all the food for the rehearsal and weekend, clothes and Finn supplies that we would need for a week in WI. The car was pretty full!
But we were all excited to get going and start the weekend! Me especially, I was so sick of thinking about details that just kept coming up in my mind and the obsessiveness needed to end.
Finn couldn’t wait, he loves to travel with us. So much so, that when we started packing he lays next to our bags or in them, just to make sure that we don’t forget him. Like we could do that!
We got to Portage on Tuesday around 5 or so, had drinks on the deck with my parents, Jim and Jayne and Ryan then headed upstairs to the house where we gorged ourselves on tacos and AMAZING sweet corn. I think Jason said he ate five tacos and two ears of corn that night. Wednesday, we went out to Karen Gee’s to pick up my dress (yay!) and then headed to Wyocena to drop off Autumn’s dress and grab some wood from the Pease’s for fires at the resort. Which, because of the rain, never got used. Oh well. That day, the Christianson’s were flying into Chicago so my dad headed down to pick them up from the airport and we did some organizing at the house for the next day when we would pack up and head to the Dells. When they arrived about 9:30 that night, we knew our thoughts of going to bed early were disappearing. Especially when Kyle decided it was definitely appropriate to head to a Portage bar for a taste of the night life. jason and I bailed but Ryan and Kyle managed to have a good time. Thursday morning, Jason was anxious to get started. My mom and I worked out, and everyone else seemed to just be relaxing. Until Jason took charge and got everyone moving to pack up the car! Kim, my mom and I headed to Krista’s Kitchen and then to Pierce’s for the rest of our food supplies. A few weeks before this, my mom and I had gone there to pre-order our potato salad, buns and meat for the rehearsal. That was a waste of time. OCD meet completely unorganized. I was not happy to find out that our order was not only not ready at the bakery, but they had put our order out on the floor to sell! And the meat department, no record of our order at all. Great, good job. The woman actually told me that since I ordered so far in advance (two weeks) I probably should have called to confirm. Ha, no. Just do your job. Anyways, we got back home to find the cars nearly packed and it was time to go!!!!
