Finally, Saturday, August 14th, 2010! I woke up before my alarm, took Finn outside and realized that it wasn’t raining and was starting to clear up! Yay! I almost ran into Jason outside but managed to make it back in before he saw me.
When I got back inside, Sara yelled “Found it!” and before I knew what was happening, she was playing “Going to the Chapel” on her phone and running through the Chalet (in undies and a tank top, we thought there were only girls staying in our house, wrong) to wake everyone up! Vanessa Oehlof arrived at 8am and the hair appointments began. Terri Amend, Lindsay’s mom, brought out breakfast goodies (quiche, yum!) and we all drank coffee and started to rev up for the day.
The guys were in charge of taking all the decorations to the tent and Spring Brook was going to set everything up. But who was going to tell them how? I couldn’t go to the tent because I would have seen Jason. Thank god, Kirsten was there! She and my mom and Kim were my eyes at the tent until the pictures started because I was a little nervous that things wouldn’t be placed correctly and of course I was really the only one who knew where everything went. Kirsten was such a huge help that day!!! I would have been a nervous wreck about where things were if it weren’t for her. Everything was set up exactly as needed and we were able to enjoy getting ready. Jayne brought my revamped bouquet back and I loved it! Julie LaMere was a huge help in distracting me because she had brought the first SATC movie with her and we put that in to distract ourselves in the morning.
I started with my hair about 11 and just as Kayla was fixing my makeup, Lexia (our AMAZING photographer) arrived and it was almost time to see Jason! I couldn’t believe how fast the morning had gone. After putting on my dress, bundling me into the car and Kayla grabbing little Finn, we headed over to our “reveal” spot. A gorgeous little bridge on the Spring Brook property where we could enter from two sides to see each other for the first time. Holy tears! I couldn’t believe how emotional I was right then! It all finally seemed real when I walked across the bridge and saw Jason.
After taking some photos with just the two of us and Finn, we headed back to meet the rest of our bridal party for their shots. I cannot wait to see the great shots we took of just the girls and my dad’s 1970 Triumph! But, wow, it was hot! We went back to the Chalet when guests started arriving to cool off and then made our way over to the main building for the ceremony. Jim, my godfather, was our officiant and he did an amazing job. It meant so much to have him be performing the ceremony for us because he has been a part of my life from the beginning. It was pretty hot, but we saw guests enjoying a beverage from the bar during the ceremony, and that made me laugh a little. Perfect for us! And then the fun began! We did some huge family photo shots of the Murphy and Brunt families with the lovely Marge and Marie (91 and recently 92 yr old. grandma’s) and then receiving line and then it was time for dinner! The speeches were perfect, everyone was so emotional and honest and loving. I think we have video of them, i’ll try to post it sometime soon! Cassie and Corrie did our slide show and that night was the first time we had seen it! It was so great! They are amazingly talented at what they do!
All too soon, it was midnight. Jason and I thought we were game for karoake in the bar, until my brother spilled most of a beer down the front of my dress and all I could smell was Capital Amber. At that point, it was time for a shower, some frozen pizza and bed. Exhausted, but so, so happy. Everything went perfectly. Thank you to everyone that helped me get ready, planning, cooking, cleaning, organizing, calming! I couldn’t begin to thank everyone enough. You made our wedding and we are so grateful for all of your love and support!
